Access to basic necessities is a daily struggle, especially for female refugees and asylum seekers in Lesvos. A simple shower, something many take for granted, is a luxury. All4Aid’s shower programme is vital – offering more than just hygiene; it’s about restoring dignity. Specifically designed for women and girls, this programme understands that personal hygiene is linked to well-being. We offer an eight minute hot shower with a clean towel and washcloth, shampoo and conditioner. For babies and toddlers, we prepare a bathtub with warm water because a shower head can be too overwhelming. After the shower there is an area for hair care.
The ability to shower impacts mental and emotional health, especially for those who’ve experienced trauma. The program provides a safe space where individuals can care for this essential need while improving self-esteem and reducing stress.
