The Dreamers – All4Aid

As we gather with our loved ones this Christmas season, let’s take a moment to consider those who are less fortunate:

Refugees, displaced or asylum seekers,

They’re fleeing from their country,

They’re called: “the dreamers”

And then I ask

What is your dream?

The answer might be:

To see a gleam

A gleam of hope,

or a way to survive

To raise my kids,

or just not to starve

To sleep in peace,

without fearing the bombs

I seek a future, I seek a home.

And if I ask: Where are you from?

The answer might be:

I’ve fled from my place,

and now I’m displaced

I left my nation and had to embrace a new life,

a new country, a new way to live

I left my past

To start a new narrative

My present, my future,

I don’t know what it’ll be

I just want to live

With no reason to flee
