Recently our team, together with women from Eritrea and Ethiopia joined an unforgettable coffee ceremony at our Community Centre in Lesvos. This ceremony is a beautiful tradition rooted in their culture. One of our community volunteers from Eritrea prepared the coffee and together with a friend, shared their deep knowledge and passion for this time-honoured ritual. As the aroma of the coffee filled the air, our volunteer explained the cultural significance behind each step, creating a sense of connection and understanding.
The coffee ceremony was more than just a tasting; it was a celebration of community and cultural exchange. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about different traditions, ask questions, and connect with one another over a shared cup of coffee.
As they shared: “My mother would do it at home at least three times a day, for family, guests and friends. I miss it and I am glad to share this tradition with you.”
We are incredibly grateful to our volunteers for sharing their expertise and making this event such a success. Thank you to everyone who joined us!
