Menstrual Hygiene Day: Celebrating Women’s Health in Cyprus!

A few weeks ago, on  Menstrual Hygiene Day, our Public Health Educators in Cyprus hosted a fantastic community event celebrating women’s health! Lack of education, stigma, and limited access to menstrual products can significantly impact women and girls globally. This event aimed to break down barriers and create a safe space for open discussion.

The day was filled with fun, food, games, and informative tables on the biology of menstruation, myths and misunderstandings about periods around the world, cultural perspectives on menstruation, and even menstrual cycle tracking were explained. There was even a craft table for bracelet making, a great way for connecting  and creative expression.

The event welcomed refugee women and community volunteers from Syria, Kurdistan, Afghanistan, Cameroon, Palestine, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. It was a celebration of diversity, a day for everyone to come together, learn, and feel comfortable talking about this vital aspect of women’s health! We’re so proud of our Public Health Educators for creating such a positive and impactful event. Let’s continue to break the stigma and build a world where women can feel empowered and informed about their bodies!
