International Volunteer Day

Today is International Volunteer Day! And we want to honour all the short-term volunteers who came to serve with us on Lesvos, Greece, this year.

We had just over a hundred individual volunteers serving with us in 2019: 75% came as part of a team (church group, friends, clubs, etc.) and 25% came alone; 73% were women, 27% men. There were father and son, mom and daughter, siblings, cousins, best friends and all sorts of constellations coming to serve together.

Our volunteers came from the USA, UK, Canada, Germany, Netherlands, France, Belgium, Portugal, Greece and even Brazil (Luis dos Anjos) 😲. Our youngest volunteer was 12 years old (Suri Cruise), the most senior was 75 (better not to mention her name) 😁. Some volunteers came for a week, others for three months! We cannot name or post a photo of each of them, but we are grateful for their lives, their work and the love they shared!

The statistics above also make a good point: no matter where you live, how old you are, if you come as a group or alone, if you are a guy or a girl: you are valuable, you have something to offer, and there is always a good place for you to serve!
