Refugee Ladies Activity: Self Portraits

At our Centre for Refugee Women & Children in Lesvos, Greece, we offer services that cater for their immediate practical needs (e.g.: showers and laundry), but we also offer educational and recreational activities that lead the women and children reflect on a topic, learn something new, and continue to develop themselves as individuals.

This week our Educational Programmes Coordinator, Laura R., led an activity where our refugee ladies were encouraged to do their self portraits. They drew how they saw themselves in the past, how they see themselves at the present and how they would like to see themselves in the future.

It was a great way for the ladies to be able to share part of their stories and for everyone to get to know each other in a deeper level. Through learning about each other’s pasts and future hopes, we can all encourage and support each other to help achieve our dreams.
